This blog exists to document real problems, real solutions, and patterns that work at scale — not theory, and not vendor marketing. Most posts are born from challenges I’ve faced while designing Azure platforms, building DevOps capability, or helping teams modernise their engineering practices.

Me
I’m Christopher Pateman, a Technical Principal specialising in Azure architecture, DevOps, and cloud platform engineering.
I work hands-on with organisations to design and build secure, scalable, automation-first cloud platforms — while also helping teams adopt modern engineering practices that actually stick. My focus sits at the intersection of architecture, delivery, and enablement: making sure platforms are not only well designed, but operable, governable, and built for long-term growth.
In my role, I lead large-scale Azure architecture and landing zone designs, define DevOps strategy and standards, and drive automation using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD. I spend a lot of time creating reusable patterns, templates, and accelerators that help teams move faster without sacrificing quality, security, or reliability.
Just as important, I work closely with engineering teams — coaching across Azure, DevOps, SRE, and platform modernisation — and partner with stakeholders to align cloud and platform engineering decisions with real business outcomes.
I bring deep hands-on technical experience, clear architectural thinking, and a strong delivery mindset — helping organisations modernise safely, move faster, and engineer with confidence.
